Stephen J. Natoli is the founder of the Law Office of Stephen J. Natoli, LLC, a client-focused practice serving individuals, families, and businesses throughout New Jersey.

Before establishing his firm, Mr. Natoli served as an Assistant Prosecutor in Hudson County, where he gained extensive experience investigating and prosecuting matters of varying complexity and severity. That foundation gave him a distinctive command of how cases are built and how they are won,  insight he has since channeled into a comprehensive criminal defense practice spanning the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the New Jersey Superior Court, and municipal courts throughout the state. His practice encompasses the full range of criminal matters, including fraud, money laundering, bribery, extortion, tax evasion, embezzlement, securities violations, public corruption, drug and CDS charges, assault, weapons offenses, robbery, murder, racketeering, and traffic and motor vehicle offenses.

Mr. Natoli has tried cases to favorable verdicts across all levels of the court system — in federal court, the New Jersey Superior Court, and municipal courts throughout the state. He has also demonstrated his appellate capabilities, prevailing before the Appellate Division and securing the reversal of adverse rulings on behalf of a client facing serious custodial consequences.

In addition to his criminal defense work, Mr. Natoli has served as counsel to multiple governmental entities, including as former general counsel to the Bayonne Housing Authority and the Secaucus Housing Authority, and currently as enforcement counsel to the Hudson County Improvement Authority. Representation of public bodies of this nature demands a practitioner who is equally comfortable navigating the regulatory, and legal complexities that inevitably arise – from procurement and governance issues to personnel matters and constitutional exposure. These engagements require not only legal acuity but sound judgment and discretion at every turn. Mr. Natoli also advises several large property management companies throughout Hudson and Essex Counties, overseeing a substantial volume of enforcement matters each year.  

Mr. Natoli competed in collegiate basketball at Drew University before transferring to Villanova University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He subsequently received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.  He credits much of his professional development to longtime mentors Daniel Welsh, Anthony Iacullo, John Molinari, and Rene Riverol, and draws his work ethic from his father, a North Jersey businessman who instilled in him the value of dedication and hard work.
